Elizabeth Kennedy’s Resort 2018 Collection is one phenomenal piece after another, ranging from elegant formalwear and glamorous gowns, to transformative caftans and chic dresses. Having a small part in the photo shoot was an unforgettable experience.
Slim Aarons, who was the inspiration behind the images for the Resort Campaign, also happens to be one of my favorite photographers known for “photographing beautiful people doing beautiful things in beautiful places”.
Everything was shot in Palm Springs and the production team, Long Lunch Break, had the resemblance to their homage down to a T. It was a surreal opportunity to be on a set with very lofty goals, that were even surpassed when looking at the final images.
I played a small part as a background in the shoot and my day started with getting my hair and makeup done. Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos.
Diana Barton was my makeup artist and she’s one of those very unique souls that if you’re lucky to meet, you won’t soon forget. She’s a true artist in every sense of the word and sitting in her makeup chair was quite an experience. Watching her get into the zone of applying makeup magically with her wand (aka brushes) was a treat.
Elizabeth looked ever-so-sleek behind the scenes while overseeing production. It’s no wonder that stars flock to her for their red carpet gowns, and styling. Her client list includes Lena Dunham, and Mindy Kaling just to name a few. She manages to balance the subtlety of refined glamour with a creative flair by fully utilizing the front and back proportions of a dress, creating a custom couture piece that fits like a glove for any princess, or for any woman wanting to feel like one (even if just for the day).
Kennedy started her line by launching custom couture exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman and has expanded to other stores, to include trunk shows on M’oda ‘Operandi.
Lucky for brides, Elizabeth Kennedy also designs wedding gowns that have been featured on Town and Country magazine as well as Martha Stewart Weddings. As if that weren’t enough glamour, Elizabeth has also launched a jewelry collection that drips of the subtle understated opulence that she has a knack for creating.
