Weddings this year are bursting forth with exciting trends. Here are some of our favorite details that we’re finding in 2023.
1. Pearls are Back
Pearls have been a staple in my family’s fashion arsenal and I’m excited to see this trend come back in a big way. This classic embellishment can be added in so many different ways, from subtle decorations on shoes, earrings, and veil decor.

2. Bows are In
Bows are another big accessory that we’ll be seeing this year, making their appearance on shoes, wedding dresses, and even cakes. For the trend-savvy brides, you may even see pearl-decorated bows incorporated on the wedding day. We love this girly vibe that’s trending this year!

3. Outdoor Weddings Are Here to Stay
After the pandemic, micro-weddings continued to be a mainstay. Guest counts diminished and brides were able to splurge because their budget now had fewer guests. Couples were opting for more intimate celebrations, in an outdoor setting.
As people are more comfortable with public gatherings, wedding party sizes are increasing but outdoor weddings remain a trend. The benefits of an outdoor venue include a more natural environment for your ceremony. Being outside gives you the flexibility to use natural garden settings or scenic views around the venue. The outdoor lighting is also a great compliment for wedding photos. And who doesn’t love being outdoors under the open skies?

4. Comfy Clothes Are In
It’s not uncommon for brides to have an outfit change during the wedding. Usually, during the reception, there’s a dress change into something more casual than the wedding gown with a long train. Some brides bustle their dresses and wear them throughout the night while others change into a separate dress. Some brides change their heels into comfy sneakers for dancing, while others are making themselves even more at home by wearing sweats towards the end of the night. From glam to cozy, this brides have reached the full spectrum.

5. Colors and Florals
Instead of the plain pastel palettes and blush tones that we’ve been used to seeing for so long, brides are going big on bold colors. We’re seeing an outburst of bright, fun, and energetic hues, replacing the traditional wedding colors that were once timid and predictable. This can be reflected in the different details ranging from bridal bouquets to tabletop decor. Rich and vibrant jewel tones like emerald green, sapphire blue, deep purple, and ruby red can add a luxurious and elegant touch to weddings.

6. Blurred Photos Are Trending
Blurred photos are having a moment and this is not a mistake. Photographers are intentionally using this feature to reflect movement and action. Wedding photography has various categories ranging from posed photographs to candid shots to capture the day. Some brides are requesting that their photographer include blurred moments so they can capture the joy in motion on the day.

7. Private Last Dance
Another trending moment we’re seeing is the private last dance between the bride and groom to savor that last moment of their big day. This also gives time for the wedding planner to prepare the grand exit–this can be handing out sparklers, confetti, or neon glow sticks to the guests and having them create a path for the newlyweds. A private last dance also gives the photographer ample time to capture more creative shots of the bride and groom.

8. Sustainable and Eco-Conscious Wedding Decor
With the increasing awareness of environmental sustainability, brides are factoring in eco-conscious wedding decor and we’re glad they’re doing this. Some examples include using recycled or biodegradable materials for invitations, favors, and decorations, and sourcing locally grown or organic food. One option is an eco-friendly confetti, such as @ecoconfetti.
